Denon HEOS Drive HS2 is a whole-home multi-zone amplifier in a single 2RU chassis, 8 channels of Class D amplification split across 4 independent HEOS zones, designed by custom integration specialists for custom integration professionals.

Product role and range position

HEOS Drive HS2 sits at the custom-install end of Denon’s HEOS range, built specifically for a whole-home multi-room audio project rather than a single room, condensing what would otherwise be several separate amplifiers into one rack-mountable chassis.

Four zones, one chassis

HEOS Drive HS2 packs 8 channels of Class D digital amplification, rated at 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20Hz-20kHz, 0.05% THD, all channels driven), into a single 2RU chassis covering 4 independent HEOS zones, each with its own stereo pair of pre-amp outputs and its own dedicated USB port. Where a zone needs more power, 1 or 2 stereo amp pairs can be bridged for up to 130 watts of single-channel output, and the amplifier is rated down to a 4 ohm load.

Genuine matrix switching

Any of HEOS Drive HS2’s 2 optical digital inputs, 2 coaxial digital inputs and 4 analogue stereo inputs can be assigned to any of its 4 zones through its matrix switching system, giving a custom installer real flexibility in how sources are distributed around a whole-home project.

Built-in DSP for any speaker type

HEOS Drive HS2’s built-in DSP high pass/low pass filters let any output be configured as full range, subwoofer or satellite speaker mode with adjustable crossover points, handling virtually any combination of speaker configurations a custom install might call for.

Built for rack installation

HEOS Drive HS2’s speaker outputs use 4-way binding posts compatible with banana plug terminations, with 4 12V trigger outputs for external device control, dual RJ-45 Ethernet LAN ports, and quiet fan cooling for long-term reliability, with removable feet and attachable rack ears for either rack or shelf placement.

Design
